Hi I’m 16 and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. I’m keeping my baby and my fiancé and I are happy about it but I don't know how to tell my family. Help please!! Also what do I do about birth plans and midwives and such?? Thanks xxEditor’s note: Thanks for writing in…It may help you to tell your parents together, especially since you have made a commitment to get married, and it will help you to be strong if their reaction isn’t quite what you hoped for. Be aware that some reactions can be positive; others can be negative and even become pressurising. You need to know in your own hearts why you have made this decision. Remember that your choice is yours, and no one else’s. You may need a lot of support in your relationship as well as in your parenthood, so your relationships with both sets of parents, if positive, will be important.
With regard to planning for the birth, you need to see your GP and register for ante-natal care. Everything will be explained to you. It might help you to contact your local pregnancy support centre, so that you can have a ‘friend’ to come alongside during the pregnancy and beyond. The path ahead may not always be easy, but it’s a lot easier if you’re not alone. We’ll be thinking of you.
