20 weeks pregnant with a Down's syndrome baby

By anonymous on 09/08/2012
I lost my baby when I was very young perhaps it was a sign that it wasn't meant to be.

I am now nearly 20 weeks pregnant with a Down syndrome baby. I am so scared about how I will cope, but I know I will cope as I know that I am strong.
I was advised to have an abortion and I thought about it, but it goes against what I belief in so I am deciding to go ahead with the pregnancy.

You are very brave to continue your pregnancy when the health professionals are advising abortion. I am sure you will cope, and if you feel that abortion goes against your beliefs then that could be a very hard option for you. I hope that you have a good support network around you to help and encourage you. If there is a pregnancy centre near to you I am sure they will be happy to give you support. I have spoken to a few people who have had Down's syndrome children and although it has been hard work, it has also been very rewarding and fulfilling. Please let us know if we can support you.find a centre for pregnancy support in your area.
