I had a medical termination at 10 weeks
By anonymous on 29/01/2007
I had a termination at 10 weeks as I was not in a stable relationship at the time. I do not regret my decision as I know it was in the best interests for both me and the baby. I have problems now, however, over a year later, because I had a medical termination. I was not made aware that, because I would be awake, I would pass the foetus then have to pass the placenta. I feel angry and traumatised by the fact that they let me do it this way. I would advise anyone who is considering a termination to point blank refuse a medical termination and insist on being under anaesthetic. I am now seeking counselling.Editor’s note: Thank you for telling us how you feel about your experience. About a quarter of terminations are now medical ones and I’m sure there a quite a few women who feel as you do. It’s very hard to be faced with the reality of what a termination actually involves – to see it with your own eyes and feel it happening to your body – particularly if you feel you’ve been inadequately prepared. Counselling is available for you at a local centre or through Online Advisor, or you can talk to someone confidentially on the helpline.
