I am 5 weeks and about 4 days. I went in for the medical abortion. They said the gestational sack measured at 5 weeks and 2 days. I was given 2 ultra sounds and 1 pelvic exam and told to come back a week later because they weren't able to tell if the sack was inside or outside of the uterus because of how early it was and the yolk sack wasn't seen either. Has this happened to anyone? I thought going early would help and I was upset to have to keep waiting.

Early medical abortions are usually done between 5 and 9 weeks of pregnancy. If they were not sure of the position of the embryo then they would want to wait in case it was developing in one of your Fallopian tubes, which is known as ectopic pregnancy and needs to be dealt with surgically. Although it is hard to wait, it is more important for your health to be sure about the position of the pregnancy.
